Don Miller, Kathy and Bob Kucera, and Dana and Jason Gleixner split the big prize at the Puyallup South Hill Rotary Gold and Silver Raffle recently held at Station House 726 in Puyallup.
Second time since Gold and Silver Raffle inception that $9000 was split between three winners
Anticipation grew throughout the evening as emcee and South Hill Rotarian Rick Hansen announced each of the numbers. As the drawing got down to the last three tickets, the people holding those tickets had a choice to make. Should they choose to let the drawing continue to identify the grand prize winner of $9,000? Or, should they stop the drawing and each takes one-third of the winnings? After conferring via telephone, they asked emcee Hansen to stop the drawing thus awarding each of them $3,000 in gold and silver—one-third of the total prize. Numbers were drawn from a treasure chest by Puyallup Police Chief Scott Engle.
As each number was drawn, one of our local Daffodil princesses pinned the number to one of the boards in the front of the room. Cash awards of $250 each were also made to those holding the first ticket, the 250th ticket, and the 500th ticket. Winners were Don Sinden and Kathy Kucera. Mike Hurter, winner of the Heads and Tails game played during the evening received 50% of the proceeds from that game. South Hill Rotarian Bob Tacy coordinated the coin toss during this game. Interspersed throughout the evening were several raffle drawing prizes which were awarded to various attendees in the room. South Hill Rotarians Cally Fortin and Pam Larson coordinated the door prize drawings.
Event attendees were also treated to hors d’oeuvres donated and prepared by local restaurants including Bourbon Street Creole Kitchen & Bar, Carne Aqui, HG Bistro, Karma Indian Cuisine, and Trellis Café and Boutique. Confetё Party donated a beautiful balloon art installation which decorated the entire top of the stage. Wine and beer were provided by ABBE Vineyard Winery in Federal Way.
